Today is a special day. It’s more personal than a national holiday. You could say it’s like a birthday since it was the beginning of a new life.

This new life was a choice I made. But I didn’t make it alone. There was another key person involved in this decision. You could say there’s been a lot of cooperation.

It’s been a good one too. Not perfect. That’s impossible, and it’d be boring. We are talking about two people after all, deciding to intertwine their destinies together. It’s no small feat.

One thing is for sure: I can’t really take credit for it. This way of making life work has been a gift from the beginning. And the person who chose this life, and chose me, is a gift too.

For all this, I am thankful. Not because next week is Thanksgiving and I am supposed to be thankful. Although that is true; I should be grateful. But I have gratitude not by force but by…choice? Yet how can I not be thankful?

Today is the day, seventeen years ago, that I married my lovely wife!

He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord. Proverbs 18:22

An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels. Proverbs 31:10
