Spring Forward No More

Let’s talk about daylight saving time for a sec. Raise your hand if you’d like to see it abolished! My hand is raised.

Last Fall, when we were supposed to “Fall back” (turn clocks back one hour), I wrote about finally ending this whole messing with the clock thing every year.

So it’s time to file a complaint against it once more. Especially in the Spring. Because despite the niceness of “gaining” an extra hour of sunlight in the evening, nobody likes to lose an hour of sleep. Even if it does mean I get to drink an extra coffee.

Minor inconvenience aside, there are other reasons to stop flip-flopping the clock twice a year. I’ve included an informative link below that may help.

Right now, my key argument would be that of simplicity. Leave well-enough alone. Keep time as-is and leave the clocks alone all year round.

Pick a time, set it, and forget it!

  1. * raising my hand * Seriously, it´s the most unnecessary thing on earth. My girls asked me last year what DST is. I gave a really great child friendly explanation and their question was: But why? So I had to give an even easier explanation. They asked the same Q. I gave up. They gave up. My husband then asked why I would try to explain something not even us adults are willing to accept. Point made. You´re absolutely right – Leave well enough alone. I “liked” this post 🙂
