Developing My JRPG Rating System

Playing JRPGs is fun and challenging. Ranking them is a big challenge too. I’ve been engaged with both lately - good times. A few years ago, I ranked my top JRPGs, which was super hard because some were practically tied. Now I’ve decided to make my own rating system, allowing overall scores to rank the games for me. So far, I like the results.

Why I Switched Back To Day One

Day One is a great journaling app, and I’m back to using it. One day I’ll stop switching up my apps, but today is not that day. It’s not surprising that I changed my setup again. And it shouldn’t be surprising that I’ve chosen Day One since it’s so good at what it does.

Back To Playing The Roles

I love a good RPG: fantasy, fun, escapism, engrossing, exploration, combat, magic, characters, plot, strategy, puzzles. There’s a lot to enjoy. These good things take time, and it’s time for me to resume play. My growing backlog is a shame to ignore; I added two new RPGs to it this week. So I’m back in the role-playing game!

Confessions Of A Chronic Switcher

Hello, my name is Jason, and I am a chronic switcher. When it comes to computing workflows, I guess you could say I try to be fluent in many. Flipping back and forth between different devices, apps, platforms, and ecosystems seems to be a habit and hobby of mine. There may be benefits, but it’s not all rosy. I switch things up for various reasons and mostly have fun with it, but the cost of switching can take a toll.

Greener Grass With WordPress

With a sense of relief, I recently aborted my daunting blog migration process. Since it was hand-coding, the time and effort required was impractical for me. Besides, leaving WordPress would mean losing several benefits. So while some grass was greener elsewhere, I’m going to water the grass where I’m already standing; it will grow greener.

WordPress Won Me Over Again

I’ve had a heartfelt change of mind. Instead of migrating to a new blog host this year, I decided it’s best to stay put. Despite its warts, WordPress will remain my blogging home. Why this decision, and what about my HTML site at NeoCities? Good questions.

Neo Blogflow

This post is meta. If you’re curious enough about how I’m currently blogging, read on. Else, fuggedaboudit. I’ve been posting at two sites: WordPress and Neocities. The latter mirrors the former, starting back in August last year. I’ve prioritized Neocities in order to learn HTML+CSS and have direct and total control over my whole blog. I might migrate there this year and leave WP behind. I might not. For now, I post to my HTML site first. Then I post to WordPress.

My 2024 Reading Prospect

With the year refreshed, it’s time again to renew my annual goal for reading 12 books in 12 months. And this time, I’ll try to not repeat my previous failure. So far, I’ve read zero of twelve but am on track. My kindle awaits.

20 Year Career Milestone

Tech is the typical topic on this blog. But today I want to highlight a personal milestone, one I’ve anticipated over the distant horizon for years. Now it’s finally here. I’ve somehow managed to stay working in the same career for 20 years. And there’s no telling how many more I might go.

No New Tech

A new year means a fresh start with new goals. For me in 2024, there’s one resolution: no new tech (well, mostly). I shouldn’t replace, upgrade, or switch out any of my gadgets. So long as my current devices keep working well, I’ll try to be content with what I have. Yet this might be too lofty or noble a twelve-month challenge for me; I’m not totally resolute. It’s a feasible goal, but I’m likely to upgrade something.
