A Good Enough Meeting About Pika

Last week, I was fortunate to meet on a video call with members of the Good Enough team, the company behind blog hosting platform, Pika. They wanted to learn a little bit about some of Pika’s early bloggers and how they’re using it.

It was a nice, casual meeting, and I really appreciated the time with Pika’s developers. I was asked basic things like: why I’m leaving WordPress, what I like about Pika, features I might like to see added, and what tools or apps I use in my blogging workflow.

Interestingly, Pika’s team members also asked questions about me personally, my background, how I got into tech, etc. At one point in the video call, one of my family’s roosters outside crowed, and the Pika guys heard it! So they learned about our livestock; it’s not a topic I typically blog about, that’s for sure. But they were genuinely interested.

I was also given some space to ask the Good Enough crew a few questions, like will more themes be added in time? Has a media manager been considered? Could tags (for post topics) be added in a simple and elegant way?

What I gathered from them is that Good Enough, the company, started with a couple of guys who know and trust each other, and others came aboard as they grew organically.

They’ve been crafting tools that they themselves need or want, not just seizing a market opportunity or building stuff just to sell. They personally rely on the things they’re developing, like Pika.

And speaking of developing, as of today, there’s already a new feature on Pika: the ability to backdate posts before first publishing them — yes!

Overall, the company seems — good enough! And Pika is its most important endeavor yet. I think Pika has a long and bright future ahead of it, which may include Pika merchandise by the way (imagine a cute Pika mascot decal on your laptop).

I’m happy and lucky to be with Pika near its start, enjoying and supporting a new, simple blogging host that just lets you write on the open web.

Cheers for Pika!
