More Bloggy And Personal On Pika

Okay, here’s a little observation about blogging on Pika I’ve had. What is kind of hitting me about it is that, thanks to its clean and simple design (how it looks and works), it helps me blog better. Or I should say it helps me write more like a blogger and less like an editorialist or essayist. It helps me feel like I can be less formal, more personal.

You see, for a while on WordPress — which is big and complex and feels more formal in comparison — I’ve kind of gravitated to writing more structured posts, as if I’m a brand or publication instead of an average, ordinary, and mediocre Joe Six Pack or whatever.

WordPress wants me to build a website and be a marketable creator. Sorry, I’m just a normal dude who likes geeking out on tech.

Pika lets me just write. It lets me just blog. It doesn’t ask me to do other stuff. It doesn’t push me to learn a whole new Full Site Editing system. It doesn’t make me use a bunch of blocks just to get text on the web.

I keep telling myself I’m still in the honeymoon phase here at Pika. Surely its gleam in my eye will fade. Maybe. For now, I’m loving it. And as of now, I’m pretty sure when my WordPress plan expires, I will not renew it. I’ll likely subscribe to Pika.
