WordPress To Pika Migration

Just a bit of blog status news here. Over the next few months or so, I plan to copy my posts from WordPress to my new host, Pika. The Jason Journals archive will repopulate here as I plan for this to be my new home going forward. It’s a great blogging platform so far!

My previous site at WordPress.com is now static. The blog posts there are not easily accessible. My domain, jasonjournals.com, now points to Pika, so my old post links are broken (womp-womp). My WP.com subscription ends this Summer; I will not renew the current “Starter” plan. WordPress has become too big and complex for my tastes. And its recent A.I. involvement was upsetting.

In copying my posts to Pika, I’m also archiving them offline in local storage. I’ll have them “just in case.” Pika is a very new platform, so who knows how it will grow or if it will survive at all. I’m hoping and trusting…and putting in my fair share with a monthly subscription now.

If Pika for some reason doesn’t work out, I’ll look at moving to another simple host like, BearBlog, Blot, or Write.as. And if those aren’t up to the task, then I’d probably go back to Micro.blog. For any of these, my posts (text or markdown files) should easily import, I think.

So that’s my game plan as of now. Migrate off WordPress to Pika and enjoy the drastically improved simplicity and elegance of the platform. I’m still working out how to streamline my blog workflow, but it’s already about as easy as can be.
