Last week, I got a new grip on my Apple Pencil. It’s called NimbleSleeve, by UPPERCASE. It’s nice.
The sleeve is silicone, thin, and soft. Installing it went smoothly. I like that it has a cut-out to show both the Pencil logo and my custom “engraving.”
After a few days of using it to doodle, sketch, and handwrite on my iPad, I’m happy to say the sleeve really does make using the Pencil better. It feels more comfortable due to the soft silicone, and it’s more grippy (but not sticky). I’m more confident jotting my thoughts in my journal.
Yeah, it's orange! |
The Pencil does charge through the sleeve when connected directly to my iPad Air, but not when I have the iPad in a thin case. Then it magnetically attaches but does not charge. So I’ve been trying my iPad case-less again (it’s soooo thin). Also, double-tapping the Pencil through the sleeve to switch tools requires a bit more intentional focus and accuracy. It works okay; wish that were better.
The sleeve was about $10 from Amazon and is well worth it so far. I still plan to try PaperLike in the near future, or maybe special Pencil tips. For now, I’m giving the bare glass a fair chance to show me what it’s like to really write on.
Apple Pencil is kind of an iPad game-changer. Accessories to enhance it all — even better.
