My Apple Watch SE (gen 1) served its time; now it’s back in Apple’s hands. I traded it in. That’s one less computing device for me to manage: less charging, less updating, fewer interfaces, fewer apps. It simplifies things for my feeble brain. So while I enjoyed my time with the Apple Watch’s great fitness features, I’m relieved to let it go.
Apple’s trade-in process is very easy and quick; this is my second time using it. I first traded in my iPhone 8 Plus a couple years ago, and now my Apple Watch. In both cases, since the devices were still in very good shape, Apple sent me a return shipping box with label and, once processed, credited me the full offered price each time. And both instances took about the same amount of time, roughly ten days.
I’ve not missed the Apple Watch so far. In fact, I recently had it turned off and tucked away for a few weeks and had gone without it for a while prior to that. Instead, my left wrist has been graced with a simple and affordable analog watch for the past month. I’m still liking the Casio Forester, with its “always-on” display, nice built-in light, and physical dials.
While I now have one less device to fiddle with, I still have three computers: MacBook, iPad, and iPhone. It’s a lot. There’s a chance I trade-in my iPad, but I’m still weighing a lot of related things. So we’ll see. Either way, I’m enjoying the simple progress with less.
