I’ve been reading a lot lately — MOAR BOOKS! I’ve found books on sale via Amazon and the Kindle store. It’s been very satisfying and relaxing to enjoy several good reads over the past month or so. And I’m catching up on my annual Reading Goal, having read 7 out of 12 so far this year. Now there’s just four months left for me to read five books; it’s still a challenge.
In the past two months, give or take, I’ve started and finished reading five books:
I liked all of them — good reads indeed. All are non-fiction, though the last one is indeed a story, a real-life tale that was un-put-downable, amazing. It’s about someone who dove headlong into the transgender lifestyle and then de-transitioned back out of it by the grace and power of God. Demonic possession? No problem, God can totally handle that.
The last few chapters of Dopamine Nation were also touching or moving. I’m starting to think that while I like books that are entertaining or informative, my favorite ones are those that are inspiring or uplifting.
Usually distracting or even depressing, scrolling social media isn’t inspiring. Reading the right kind of books is.
Inspiration is like something that both informs you and moves you to action. I think even a fiction book can be so compelling if told well. How inspiring of hope or determination might be The Lord of the Rings?
Anyways, just saying that I’ve been enjoying much reading lately. And yeah, that means I’m not gaming at all for a season, but that’s fine. I’m looking forward to more good books over the next few months, trying to tackle the shortest ones first.
Next year, I’d like to start on some long-reads. One of them is American Prometheus. Another is Tolkien’s epic high-fantasy masterpiece. My Kindle is ready.
