Okay, this is a little, er, meta; hear me out. With my previous post yesterday about Transformers One, I initially started to share the photo with a short blurb directly on Mastodon — you know, a social micro post thing. Simple.
I began by clicking the image upload button and found the photo. After that, I started typing…but then something struck me. Why not just post to my own blog? It’s really just as easy, even to upload a photo.
If what I was about to share had any importance, wasn’t it best to put it on my blog regardless of length? And besides, I could still share it to Mastodon (plus other social sites like Threads). So that’s what I did.
Of course, I think and I write, so my intended micropost — you guessed it — turned into a regular-sized post. Yet it was still short, like a simple journal entry. You know, because Jason Journals.
So yeah, think I should always post to my blog. Period. Anything beyond that, share a link to my post. “Own your content.”
