Transformers One Fun

Today I took my two youngest kids to the movie theater cinema to watch the new Transformers One film. Yeah!

What I got a kick out of as much as the movie itself was treating my kids to see it on the big screen, enjoying their unbidled excitement. We had talked about going before but of course life is already busy. Then my youngest recently reminded me. Hmmm…

Yesterday, I was walking through Lowes to buy new materials for my next DIY home project. As I was scoping out the stuff, thinking about all the work I was planning to do — you know, “Git’r done” — the idea popped into my head about taking the kids to see this movie before it’s not in the theater anymore.

The kids and I are not getting any younger. Why miss this fun chance to build a simple yet good memory with them?

So this morning I woke them up from bed and told them to get ready quick, we’re going to see the matinee! Yes, they moved quickly.

Is that…Optimus?
The movie was a good’un. It’s tailored more for younger kids, unlike the first several eye-candy films that I hardly liked. Some I couldn’t even stand to watch. The first one and the third one are the only ones I liked enough to tolerate, maybe even enjoy a bit. These were too crass and unnecessarily vulgar.

Bumblebee is super-great compared to those above. It had a good story and heart. Transformers One also had a better and more down-to-Cybertron story. The animation style was super-cool and colorful. And the origin of Optimus and Megatron was compelling. Some final scenes were enthralling.

So I’m thankful. I took a break from work and enjoyed a special treat with my kids today. The older I get, I think the more I appreciate these life moments.
