Once in a while, you find something that just clicks; maybe it’s meant to be. That’s what Pika seems like since I started using it March 1st. I’ve really enjoyed the past nine months of blogging on Pika.
The blog service is simple and reliable. This year, it added several new features without overcomplicating things. There’s not really any content to manage, just use the simple editor to write posts. And…that’s basically it. And that’s the point.
I’m extra glad to have moved off WordPress to Pika since Matt Mullenweg seems to be slowly imploding the longstanding blog-turned-website ecosystem. Sometimes things grow so big they eventually crumble under their own weight. Who knows what’s really going on with WordPress and Automattic, but it’s not looking good.
There are other great simple small blog hosts to choose from. I like how they all focus on blogging, not website building. I happened to find newcomer Pika to be just right.
My latest workflow is probably the simplest it’s been a while: draft directly in Pika’s web editor. When ready to publish, copy/paste the body in a Google Doc to archive. Then publish and share the post link to social media. Easy does it.
Pika minimizes the overhead so you can just write: think, type, publish. I’m glad Pika is here, and I’m glad to blog here. 2024 was good, and 2025 is looking good too. Or at least good enough.
