Blogging One Year With Pika

Happy March, y’all! Spring is just around the corner… Last year on March 1st, I started blogging at Pika. So how's it going after a whole year? The relatively new blog host remains rock solid and has steadily added new features and tweaks. I enjoy blogging now more than ever. Also, I don't miss managing a website.

Thanks to Pika's overall minimalist elegance, I've been able to focus on writing over the past twelve months. Granted, some of my drafting is done in a separate word or notes app, but usually it’s within the web editor on Pika.

Since Pika added the ability to use excerpts of posts in the main feed or timeline, I still have many years’ worth of posts that I plan to go through and add the excerpts. It’s easy enough, will just take a bit of time. Pika also added footnotes, image grids and lightbox among other nice new features.

I can think of some other cool new features I might like to see added to Pika. But at what point would it become “bloat” or overly complicated? Pika’s strength is its simplicity. It features less by design so you can simply write more. Fewer features means more focus.

The point is blogging; all else is distraction.
