I Got A Skell!

On April 4th, 2025, I earned my first Skell in Xenoblade Chronicles X. YASSS! It was at 27 hours into gameplay time in the Definitive Edition on Switch. When I first played the game on Wii U, I was about 40 hours into the game when I was still trying to complete the exam certificates to earn a Skell License; I never finished. Now, finally, I got my first Skell. This awesome game just got even better.

Call it a mech. Call it a transformer. Either way, it's awesome. I've already loaded out some Intergalactic level weapons on it that I somehow gained along the way so far. I can pilot the Skell in robot mode or vehicle mode but can't (yet) fly. First I'll need to earn a Flight Module at some point. It's great how the game spreads out progress.

I'm learning how to navigate and fight with my Skell (like exoSKELeton). In battle, there's a cockpit mode that looks cool but I don't know how it's activated or what it enables. Actually, there's a lot to learn about using a Skell and managing it. Using a Skell consumes resources, and your mecha can be broken, which is costly. It's more power...and more responsibility.

For now, I plan to use my Skell sparingly, like when needed most. I think it will help with exploration. Maybe it will be like a tank or suit of armor, helping me push past more difficult enemies or indigens to reach new areas. Otherwise, I don't know what new heights it puts within my reach.

When it comes to customization, I'll be looking for glowing orange accents in medium gray armor. XCX:DE was already fantastic. For lack of better words, gaining a Skell is truly game-changing.
